Alzheimer's Disease and Possible Cure

Alzheimer’s Disease and a Possible Cure

I am seventy-two years old and many people I know are afraid that it is only a matter of time before I come down with this hated disease. So it is with great joy that I am writing this posting for my blog. A group of Researchers from the University of California at Irvine, California, believe they have found a cure for Alzheimer’s. A CURE FOR ALZHEIMER’S and it is so inexpensive. I have to tell you this is only a preliminary study. No one can promise everyone will be cured,
Still, the researchers are conducting the study because they believe they have found the cure for Alzheimers. This study could open the door to totally new research to discover totally new data leading to solving

Another amazing fact is that the cure has been around for decades and can be found in any health food store. Dr. Abe Hoffer, psychiatrist with a very strong bend toward nutrition, used to teach that this nutrient could cure mental illness. The UC Irvine research presented startling results using Alzheimer’s mice. The mice that suffered from Alzheimer’s had their memory restored and were normal again.

The researchers genetically engineered mice to get the equivalent of Alzheimer’s disease. Mice were used because animals can suffer dementia in the same manner as humans develop beta amyloid plaque in their brains – A distinctive Alzheimer’s feature. They divided the mice into two groups. One group received nothing to combat the Alzheimer’s and the second group received the experimental nutrient for the four months of the research project. A vitamin was added to the second group’s water when they were four months old. Testing began to check the effect of the vitamin on the test group of mice’s short-term memory and long-term memory. Testing showed they found lower levels of phosphorylated tau in the brains of the Alzheimer’s mice that received the nutrient, as well as an increase in proteins that strengthen the brain’s microtubules. Untreated Alzheimer’s mice demonstrated memory loss and those that received the nutrient, performed as well as normal mice.

What nutrient did they use in the research? Vitamin B-3, otherwise known as niacinamide. This is the no flush form of niacin. Almost every health food store has this vitamin in stock and it is not expensive. I purchased a month’s supply for less than $20.00.

Results from this research demonstrated that oral niacinamide is an easily tolerated form of the vitamin B-3, and it is amazing in its ability to treat Alzheimer’s. The research by the team at University of California, Irvine, exhibited in a very clear fashion that oral niacinamide treatment will prevent cognitive deficits in mice with Alzheimer’s. It also improved the short-term memory in mice not suffering from Alzheimer’s. The key achievement of this research was that the infected mice recovered and could function as well in memory testing as healthy mice; suggesting that the vitamin, niacinamide, protected their brains from memory loss and restored memory that had been lost.

The UCI researchers are recruiting patients for a human study. The people taking part in this study will take 1500 mg a niacinamide twice daily. I believe this is a terrific opportunity to take a step forward in protecting ourselves from Alzheimers and do it without making any expensive investment.

I must repeat the warning that you do not want to use niacin. It would give you a very uncomfortable prickly flush. Niacinamide is the no flush form of B-3 and it does not have any irritating effects on the liver, even in high doses.

Several members of the research team have made comments that we should pay attention too. In the Journal of Neuroscience. Dr. Kim Green, commented that, “Cognitively, they were cured”. He goes on to say, “It actually improved behavior in no-demented animals.” Dr. Frank LaFerla, also stated that, “This suggests that not only is it good for Alzheimer’s disease, but if normal people take it, some aspects of their memory might improve.”
